This might explain the heated exchange with Zelenskyy and why he left without signing a mineral deal…

The UK’s 100 year deal included a focus on MINERAL RESOURCES, positioning British firms to benefit.

1. The deal would weaken U.S. leverage in shaping the Russia-Ukraine war’s outcome or post-war reconstruction

2. The UK’s preferential early access to the minerals will severely limit U.S. supply or raise costs for Americans and industries

3. If the UK’s aid (£3 billion/year) falters due to its strained economy, the U.S. will face calls to step in.

In a nutshell, President Trump avoided a very bad deal, which would have granted British firms preferential access to Ukraine’s mineral resources.
