The Office of the eSafety Commissioner has issued thousands of "informal notices" to social media platforms, and we know that during the pandemic period the Department of Home Affairs tacitly requested the deletion of over 4000 social media posts (many of which were factual statements).
Honest, open debate is the best way to truly weed out error. We must be vigilant in protecting free speech and ensuring that the bureaucracy is not weaponised.
